Jan studied vibraphone and drums at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and subsequently collaborated with artists such as Spinvis, Ellen ten Damme and Wende. But now Jan is mainly YAN. Solo. The music of YAN is electronic with vintage synthesizers from the seventies and eighties in the base. The vibraphone and the marimba are at the heart of his productions. YAN's music is sometimes hushed and cinematic, but it can also be danceable and sturdy. Inspired by and in line with Jon Hopkins, Four Tet, Nils Frahm and Philip Glass, YAN stands his ground.
